Digital Storytelling Evaluation

I watched and commented on six of my peer's videos. Those videos were made by Brooke, Stephanie, Rebecca, Ali, Cassy, and Meagan.

I believe that the most difficult aspect of creating a digital storytelling project in a classroom would be the task of making sure that everyone has a chance to participate. The resolution to this would be splitting up in small groups with each group holding the responsibility for the creation of their own video. However, there is no guarantee that the school where I am teaching will have the necessary amount of technological tools needed to complete a video.
For my video, I took pictures of a teddy bear and was able to string them together in accordance with the narration of a poem.

TPACK

There are three major components that combine to form the framework for TPACK. Those components include pedagogical, content, and technological knowledge. Pedagogical deals with the various teaching methods used in order to enhance the learning experience for each child in the classroom. Content knowledge contains the concepts and facts of the particular subject that is being taught. Technological knowledge is needed in order to adequately incorporate technology into the classroom. It is imperative for a teacher to have a firm understanding of each of these components. Balancing these three components is the key for creating a successful learning environment.

My Learning Experience

The most important thing that I learned while completing this assignment was how to create a wiki. Although this was a lot of work, and I relied mainly on the tutorials provided, I overall feel very pleased at the work I have accomplished. Doing things of this nature really help to build my technological confidence!

Technology Experience

Technology has always made me nervous. Reflecting on my past experiences with technology, a definte pattern has manifested itself. I usually stay away from advances in technology, unless it is necessary or will provide me with something that I feel is worth the effort and frustration. Technology became a constant part of my life about three years ago, when I began my job as a project manager for the Office of Information Technology. I have since learned that everyone has the capability to be technologically savvy, as long as patience and endurance are involved!
